LOGOS - Monthly Fellowship for Gr. 6 - 12

LOGOS is Greek for word...the word of God. LOGOS is a mid-week well-rounded Christian nurture program for the youth of our church. The program is conducted on Wednesdays from September to April from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm. There are four segments of the program, the schedule is as follows:
5:30 to 6:00 Recreation /Crafts
6:00 to 6:45 Family Time Dinner
6:45 to 7:45 Bible Study

Recreation and craft time includes a variety of games, activities and crafts. Dinner is served family style as the youth share fellowship conversation. Junior High and Senior High meet separately during Bible Study to facilitate conversation appropriate for each level. A portion of Bible Study is spent preparing a youth service that the youth present on one Sunday morning.

Parents are asked to volunteer on a once-a month basis, usually helping with meal preparation or recreation and crafts. LOGOS is a self-sustaining program. A fee of $135 per student is paid to cover the expense of dinner and supplies for Bible study and crafts.

We encourage parents to consider their teens participation in LOGOS as a valuable program of Christian nurture. This program is a great way to make friends in a loving and giving Christian atmosphere.

Faith in Action - Teen Community Service

Faith in Action is a series of FUN community service activities for middle and high school youth. Participants can earn community service credits while having a good time. Anyone in middle or high school can participate--you don't have to be a member of RHUMC or any of its programs, like Logos or Mid Zone, to join in the Faith in Action activities.

Over 40 youth and their parents from RHUMC participated in a recent Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Volunteer Day. We helped weed the George F. Canyon Nature Preserve. As an added benefit, most of the participants also qualified for a trip to Disneyland thanks to the Disney Give a Day, Get a Day program.

UMYF Activities

When the youth get together at our church it is with the guiding principal that "you are a child of God and you deserve to be treated with respect."

We offer a variety of activities on and off the church campus. The youth have planned activities such as bowling, Laser-Tag, dinner and movies, pool parties and an all night lock in. They have also planned trips to water parks, beaches, Knott's Scary Farm, Magic Mountain and Big Bear for snow skiing or boarding. The youth also participate in the Young People's Convention and Junior High Convention
