Myra
Ghabrial
Myra was born in Cairo, Egypt. She attended a French private girls
school (Saint Vincent De Paul) she speaks and writes English, French
and Arabic. Myra came to the United States in 1971. She is married,
and has a daughter who lives in northern California. Myra has an
Associate of Arts Degree Cum Laude and received her bachelor of Arts
Degree in Early Childhood Education. She continued on with her studies
in Business School Administration. Myra worked from 1978 to 1985 at
Granada Park United Methodist Church Preschool as a lead
teacher/assistant director and also worked at the Gerber Children
Center in the afternoons as an Assistant Director. She moved to Palos
Verdes in the summer of 1985 where she started her job as the
Preschool Director for Rolling Hills United Methodist Church. She has
been with the preschool since then. Her cultural heritage gives her
unique insight and perspective of inter-racial concerns in everything
she demonstrates. Myra has tremendous energy and a cheerful, positive
attitude toward life and her fellowman. She has the ability to solve
problems, is decisive and carries through on her decisions. She is
courteous, kind and helpful to all people she comes in contact with.
She will spend whatever time is needed in assisting families and is
very efficient and organized. Myra has the gift of knowing every
parent, child and their siblings by name. When Myra started in the
preschool we had nine staff members and six classes with a total of 72
children. She opened eight additional classes to accommodate the
demands of the parents needing a preschool. We now have fourteen
classes, thirteen classes half day mornings and afternoons and one
full day class designed for the full time working parent. In the near
future another full day class will be opened. Today, we have twenty
two on the staff and 185 children. Since coming to the United States,
Myra has become a very capable and effective administrator, a great
asset to the community and a friend to hundreds of children and
parents.
Myra enjoys visiting her grandchildren. She loves gardening and enjoys
ocean swimming in the summer time.
Kim
Marsaw
Kim has been with the Preschool since 1998. She worked as an assistant
in the four year old class and worked in Extended Day. She is part of
the office staff, doing the school shopping, subs in the classes and
does the photography for Dad’s Day and Preschool graduation. Kim is
very handy and does a variety of things for the Preschool. She is
married with four children, 3 boys and 1 girl, ages 9 to 18 years old.
Her youngest Collin is a graduate from the Preschool. She enjoys doing
many things with her family
especially skiing.
Mary Lou Jackman
Mary Lou Jackman was born in Inglewood, California. She was baptized
at Lennox Methodist Church, attended Sunday School and was in MYF
where she met Harry.
They married and 9 years later were MYF counselors for 12 years. Harry
and MaryLou were foster parents until they adopted their own children,
Julie and Jon. MaryLou has been at RHUMPS for 10 years. She is the
music teacher and an office assistant. She worked in Extended Day and
is a sub. She also works in Children’s Church. “The Lord is so good to
me, giving me the opportunity to work in his church with children,
music
and wonderful people. I am blessed.”
