MidZone After School Program

What is MidZone?

Mid Zone is an after school enrichment program that provides care for middle school students. As students enter middle school homework tends to be plentiful and our goal is to help students get most, if not all of their homework done allowing you and your student to return home at night and enjoy your evening.

What do the students do in the afternoon?

Homework is a big part of their day. We have lap top computers with supervised internet access, full sets of the text books for 6-8th graders and staff available to help with homework. Completing homework is a priority. When homework is done some of the things we enjoy with the students include playing games upstairs or in the gym and cooking.

How does it work?

Palos Verdes middle school students take the Palos Verdes Transit to one of three locations where counselors will be waiting to pick them up.

  • Ridgecrest - green line - to PV north & Crenshaw
  • Miraleste - blue line - to PV north & Crenshaw
  • PVIS - green line - to Palos Verdes library - Kid Zone vehicle transports them to Mid Zone
  • Richardson - Kid Zone vehicle will pick them up

What happens if my child does get off the bus they were supposed to be riding?

Parents help us by notifying us of students' absences. If a student does not arrive on his/her scheduled bus, we:

  • Check in with Kid Zone office for updates on attendance
  • Call the parents to verify that day's attendance
  • Call student's cell phone (if they have one)
  • Ask other students if they know the child missed the bus or had other plans
  • If the student missed the bus we meet them at the next scheduled bus trip or pick them up at school if no bus is available
  • Keep parents updated on status of the student

What are the fees?

The yearly tuition is divided into 10 equal payments. Students may attend as many days per week as you wish. With advance notice, we can change their attendance days to accommodate sports and other extracurricular activities. Monthly tuition is:

2011 - 2012 Cost per Month
Days/Week Middle School MZ Sibling
1 $97 $92.15
2 $155 $147.25
3 $212 $201.40
